Adrian Gonzalez is a former major league baseball player. Gonzalez was originally a first round draft pick of the Florida Marlins in 2000 and one of the top prospects in baseball. Later he was the centerpiece of a trade to the Texas Rangers for a closer for the Marlins 2003 playoff run, immediately becoming one of the Rangers top prospects. However he was blocked at his natural position, first base, by Mark Teixeira and ended up being traded to the Padres as part of a package for starter Adam Eaton. After arriving in the major leagues, Gonzalez made 5 All-Star games, won two Silver Sluggers, and 4 Gold Glove awards. He will be likely bound for the Hall of Very Good First Basemen (other members include: Derrek Lee, Mark Grace, Don Mattingly, Will Clark, and Fred McGriff).
