Fleer Platinum was a series of baseball card sets produced by Fleer Skybox International from 2001 to 2005. The very first set was released on the twenty year anniversary of 1981 Fleer and was based heavily on that set and other Fleer Baseball insert sets from the 1990's.

2001 Fleer Platinum[]

The very first release of Fleer Platinum was based on the 1981 Fleer set and was a tremendous success. The set was so successful that Fleer actually released an Update/Rookie/Second Series in late 2001 in addition to the early season release.

2002 Fleer Platinum[]

The third Fleer Platinum set was based on the 1987 Fleer set.

2003 Fleer Platinum[]

The fourth release of Fleer Platinum saw the set move away from direct homage. While the vertical stripes in the borders of the base set do call back to the 1989 Fleer set, previous sets were less of an influence than the 2001 and 2002 releases.

2004 Fleer Platinum[]

The fifth Fleer Platinum release gives homage to 1984 Fleer.

2005 Fleer Platinum[]

The final Fleer Platinum set completely changed the concept. Now instead of being a throwback set to previously loved Fleer released, it made an attempt to be a more high end product.
