Pat Burrell is a former major league baseball player. He played outfield and DH for the Phillies, Rays, and Giants. Burrell was the first overall pick in the 1998 draft after winning the Golden Spikes Award for the best college baseball player at the University of Miami. Early in his career, Burrell was a hobby darling and highly touted prospect. But he was arguably the worst defensive left fielder in baseball and never quite hit like he did in college at the professional level. He finished his 12 year major league career with 292 homeruns, a .257 batting average, and no All-Star appearances. Burrell was a key contributor on two World Series winning teams, the 2008 Phillies, and the 2010 Giants.
